Self Storage: Ways to Increase Your Kitchen Storage

Limited storage in your kitchen can be quite limiting, especially for individuals who like to cook on a regular basis. Not having adequate storage can impede on you splurging on your favourite crockpots, bakeware and more as these items would be too bulky to store. However, you do not have to give up on your favourite kitchen items based on the storage available to you. Below are some handy ways that you could increase storage in your kitchen.

Opt to wheel your items

Not everything that you use in the kitchen has to stay in the kitchen. Some items that are used on an infrequent basis can be wheeled in and wheeled out, as they are needed. Therefore, one of the ways to increase your storage space would be through the use of a rolling cart. Rolling carts are typically designed with multiple shelving, drawers plus a counter top, which provides you with a significant amount of extra storage.

This cart can be used to store small appliances such as toasters, blenders, juice makers and more. You can then store the rolling cart in your pantry or in a room adjacent to the kitchen for easy access to it when you need it.

Use your vertical space

Kitchen walls typically have a lot of dead space. Instead of trying to enhance the appearance of these walls by hanging up artwork, you should consider transforming them into storage space. One of the easiest ways of doing this would be through the additional of extra shelving. It should be noted that since this shelving will put your kitchenware on display, you should only store your more attractive pieces of crockery so as to create visual interest in the kitchen, while still enhancing the functionality of the walls.

Another way to maximize the vertical space would be through the installation of hooks. These hooks can be used to hang pans, serving spoons, hand towels and more. If you intend on hanging heavy items on the walls, be sure to use heavy-duty hooks that will not succumb to the weigh that is placed on them. To free up counter space, install a magnetic mount for your kitchen knives on your walls.

Lastly, when incorporating storage space in your walls, take note not to clutter the vertical space. Space the shelving and hooks out evenly to prevent your kitchen from appearing cramped, as this would make the space seem smaller than it is.
